Goodbye Little Rock!

Today's the day!
My wonderful sister got up at 4:30 this morning to drive me to the airport. We got there about 5:30 and prayed that my bag weighed under 50 lbs...it did! 49.5 to be exact, and that was not easy, but I did it! I am also taking a box of food, medicine, even toilet paper for the Musanze house. My flight left at 7:20, and I arrived in Newark at 11:08.

One of the guys who was coming back yesterday got delayed in Brussels and didn't leave until 12:30 today from Newark, so I was able to see him and hear about his trip. It made me even more ready to get there. He told me about the kids at Sonrise and how excited they were to get a few soccer balls for recess. It's going to be an amazing trip, and I have a feeling I'm going to fall in love with Rwanda.

I am leaving here at 6:10 tonight and will arrive in Brussels at 7:45 tomorrow morning. Please continue to pray that everything goes smoothly. I'm very ready to be there and done with the airports, but I'm pretty sure that's not possible!

things i will miss...

My time is coming...only one more week! I am so excited and so ready, but there are some things I will miss! Here are a few-
1. Family - I think this is a given, but I couldn't leave them off!
2. Friends - another given. I hope they can get by without me!
3. Starbucks - I will have to find a replacement, but I'm up for it
4. TV - I know, I know...no comments, please
5. The Gap - again, I don't need any judgment here!

There are of course many more things, but I will let you think on these things for now!
7 more days to go,

3 weeks and counting...

In exactly 3 weeks from today, I will be on a plane to Rwanda. I am more than excited and can't wait for an experience that will change me forever. I am so thankful for all the prayers and support I have received from my friends and family. Sending out those letters is scary! But it has shown me that I can trust God to do what He says He will.

I am getting ready for my trip... passports, clothes, shots, etc. I hope this isn't a bad sign, but I did pass out when I had to get my shots! Luckily, my mom was there to catch me and as she says, save my life. Thanks, Mom!

Most people are asking me if I'm nervous about my trip, and I can honestly say that I'm more excited than anything else. I can't wait to get there and see the kids and the people...everything, really! The only part I'm a little nervous about is the actual trip! 26 hours to get there, all by myself! If anyone has good travel tips, book suggestions, etc., please share with me!

Thanks again for all your prayers and support. I feel so blessed by all of you! Continue to pray for me while I am preparing to leave...I will continue to keep you posted!

Counting down,
